Alaska Marijuana Board Advances Onsite Consumption Rules

Cannabis Buds

Alaska recently approved onsite consumption for some marijuana products. The state’s Marijuana Control Board has agreed to some changes proposed to the regulations. Some of the proposed changes relaxed the requirements, such as allowing only edible products to be consumed onsite.

By changing the onsite consumption rules to allow only edibles, no freestanding buildings with independent ventilation systems are needed, KTVA 11 News says.  The onsite consumption spaces would be permitted within the same building as another marijuana business. What this means is that a special area could be designated as the consumption area within an existing business.

More changes could come after the public comment period ends. It isn’t known whether lawmakers or industry license holders will attempt to revive efforts to allow for smokeable marijuana or vaping.
