Currently, there are no recreational marijuana operations on Prince of Wales Island, but one resident is hoping that the small town of Coffman Cove will support him in bringing a dispensary to the area.
Ben Wilson, Jr. submitted an application for consideration, and will need support from the local community, according to KTUU 2 News. Wilson’s first attempt was unsuccessful. He hopes that by educating local voters that it will change things this time around.
Wilson is hoping for a vote on his proposal this summer. The town of Coffman Cove only has about 200 residents, but the marijuana industry could significantly benefit the town, according to Wilson.
The narrow margin of failure the last time around, according to the City Council, leaves Wilson optimistic in his second try.
