Florida Supreme Court Approves Medical Marijuana Petitions

Florida Medical Marijuana Legalization

The Florida Supreme Court has received 100,000 signed petitions in support of the legalization of medical marijuana in Florida; therefore, supporters could see the issue up to the voting public on the November 2016 ballot.

The approval of medical marijuana legalization is supported by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The Attorney General has stated that legalization for medical purposes would not be challenged.

What has shocked Florida residents the most is that the Florida Supreme Court approved the medical marijuana constitutional amendment unanimously.

According to attorney John Morgan, “We will win next November. Compassion is coming!”

John Morgan is a big supporter for legalizing medical marijuana. In fact, he has donated $2.8 million to United for Care to fund their campaign to gain support and signatures, reports the New Times. Morgan also made a promise to match every dollar raised by United for Care to aid their efforts, and kept his promise.

There is still a ways to go before medical marijuana is a shoe-in for a place on the November ballot. A total of 683,149 validated petitions must be collected. At last count, the total of validated petitions tops out at 400,000.

United for Care almost had medical marijuana on a previous ballot, however, it failed to pass by a mere 2 percentage points. Supporters are confident that a minimum of 60 percent of registered voters will approve medical marijuana in the upcoming election.
